​​Black Owned Maine is a young but powerful Black-led and Black-serving nonprofit organization based in Portland, Maine, USA formed in June 2020. Our work is rooted at the intersection of race and socioeconomics, fueled by our commitment to business education and advocacy. We provide Black businesses with the essential support they need to not only establish themselves but also to thrive and grow. Through Black-led, Black-serving programs and a nurturing ecosystem, we empower Black entrepreneurs with the tools and resources to shape a brighter economic landscape in Maine.

Rose Barboza is a social entrepreneur residing in Portland, Maine. She founded the first nonprofit organization in Maine strictly focused on Black economic development in the state and supports entrepreneurs to access resources through culturally competent means.. Her hobbies include traveling, discovering new foods, and hanging with her son.
