When Clapping Back = Talking Back: Talking Points for Annoying Questions on Race

For some strange reason, it falls to every generation of Black people to: 1) explain that racism is “a thing”, 2) explain the impact of racism on Black people and 3) explain the implications of racism for everyone else (i.e. other people of color, corporations, the economy, etc.).

While this burden of educating the masses disproportionately falls to Black folks, we’ve seen in recent years how people from all walks of life have come together around the cause for racial justice.  And now that we find ourselves in a moment of racial backlash, we at Black Innovation Alliance want to equip activists and allies alike, in responding to questions related to racial equity and the support of Black causes. For this reason, we have compiled a set of talking points to address some of the most consistent (and annoying) questions we often hear.

Don’t get hemmed up by Rope-a-Dope “gotcha” questions and Jedi Mind Tricks.

Talk Back. Clap Back.

It’s not too late to sign the Clapback pledge. Now’s your chance to stand in solidarity with Black Innovation Alliance and a growing community of others as we Clapback against racial gaslighting and disinformation.
